Koh Samui property is booming

Koh Samui is booming and both properties and land are selling fast. This is not a sales pitch but reality. On a daily basis i am disappointing potential buyers, contacting them to say that their up and coming appointment can still happen but some of the properties and/or land they wish to view are sold. Why is there this boom? Here are some of the reasons why… Foreigners are tired of paying such huge taxes in their own country and are looking for a better quality of life. Schools are continuously improving on Samui so more families are moving here and are either renting, buying a property or buying land to build a villa for their long term future Rental returns for Samui Properties are on an all time high. Realistically you can be looking at a minimum of 8% return and in some vases, owners are seeing 12%+. Where else can you see that return? Where buyers have bought Samui land in the past, they are now coming back to build a home to develop on the land as they can see the huge potential. Samui is a gateway into so many areas in Asia. With both national and international flights to Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, with more coming, Samui is becoming a weekend paradise for expats looking for relaxation and a Samui property investment at the same time. Samui’s infrastructure is vastly changing and improving. The island’s electric has been re-wired and we don’t get half as many power cuts as what we used to and the drainage system is in place so when we have monsoon we don’t get the heavy floods. The roads are being resurfaced and half the island is complete. This has allowed for smaller cars to come to the island, rather than trucks and 4×4′s, and in turn has allowed more car dealerships to open up here too. The new Cnetral Festival shopping Mall opens next month (March 2014). This is our first ever mall on Samui and will house numerous shops, restaurants, bars, cinemas etc…this is going to be a great boost for both locals, expats and holiday makers on Samui. The list can go on and on and the small things on the island are effecting some people in a big way. The above has a huge knock on effect to the locals, creating jobs and stability, in what was an uncertain market a few years ago, during the world wide recession. Next question….how can this growth continue? Yes, things do change and without change, you don’t move on. With Koh Samui’s strict zoning laws and property building regulations, we are not a concrete jungle. Samui still has it’s natural beauty and that’s what attracts people here on a daily basis. Hotels are at an all time high occupancy and rental properties on Samui, from apartments to villas, they are all booked too with both long and short term rentals.
